Artist's Comments

So I wanted to just practice some character sketching (apparently real artists can get their characters to look like the same person every time they draw them! Keen!) but it was 4 AM and I got really tired after the eyes so I decided to quit ... but then I had a 4 AM lightbulb! I blobbed two more pairs of eyes on with different shapes, lid sizes, brows, blahblah (including one from looking in the mirror -- guess which pair are my tired-ass 4 AM eyes, difficult right?) and one big long nap later uploaded this to ask people:

What kind of personality do you see in these different sets of eyes?

Include clearly stated reasons for your thesis and properly documented citations. Kidding kidding, but do feel free to elaborate/make analogies/comparisons/etc/whatever/say hi.

And yeah I know this is watch-list abuse. :(

Really great sketches. I love doing eyes my self ^^ I really like yours. They tell so much, just with the eyes :)

D makes me think of Nicole Kidman as Cersei Lannister; sly and boding no good for the subject of that gaze.

B looks scared or maybe startled.

A looks amused.

Nice! My fave is A. And I agree with Redcandle17 about D.

My first thought was, "Ah, here's another ASOIAF sketch! Let's see...it's Cersei...some dude...blank space...and Daenerys. No, Melisandre. Wait...huh?? Too delicate for Melisandre...too devious for Dany...and actually A could be Melisandre and D Cersei...umm..." *stares*

Thank goodness it's not meant to be anyone.

Well, hi! :D

I like drawing eyes too. Yours here look very realistic and expressive. A and D are definitely female, and I suspect B is male (not sure).

A somehow makes me think of a good character who is talking to a bad character, and therefore the expression seems more calculated than cunning.

B seems to be a rather goody-two-shoes, naive guy.

It's very funny that when I saw D, I thought it reminds me of Nicole Kidman's eyes and then I read Redcandle17's comment. That being said, D looks evil, cunning, full of herself and terribly overrated (not a Kidman fan, obviously:D). And you managed to convey all that, which is great.

Hmmm....for me it'd be sth between A and B XD And, besides this, I really like all of them - very realistic and well drawn

Thanks for the input, that's kind of what I was thinking too, A and B look like "good guys" and D looks like a "bad guy" -- it's funny how we get to have these kind of labels for things, I really don't think it's anything scientific ... I mean okay I can see how B might come off as a more vulnerable expression, for example, but I think D's only "crime" is not having any eyelids, and she looks evil to us! Kind of interesting to me. And I love eyes too, maybe it's cliched but they're definitely cool to draw, way more expressive than, say, noses :p
